The Roman Empire built hundreds of miles of roads that went out from Rome like spokes in a wheel. For the most part these roads were as straight as the Romans could make them. The question is, “Why?”
The answer is really going to “drive” you nuts. It was because chariots do NOT have steering wheels! : )
